A project to create a new space for a new chapter in life for two sisters living on a shared property. The existing, outdated main house is removed and a new home created for more flexible family arrangements takes it's place. The second house receives a renovation and addition to complete the combined residence. The two homes connnect with shared and private patios to create layered gathering spaces and fluid tranisitons to the interior.

With views to the nearby mountain preserve, the project embraces the natural beauty of the desert landscape with native planting and site water conservation. Concealed photovoltaic panels provide supplemental power and high performance envelope combined with zoned HVAC systems reduces energy demands for conditioned spaces.
